 Eldorado Canyon Mine Tours is based in Eldorado Canyon at the Historical Techatticup Mine.  It's the oldest, richest and most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada.  Located just 45 minutes outside of glamorous Las Vegas, we provide historical mining tours and scenic blue water cove trips on the  Colorado River at the mouth of Black Canyon below Hoover Dam.  You will visit historical sites where steamboats docked and stamp mills operated over 100 years ago.

 You can rent a canoe or sit-on-top one or two passenger ocean kayak.  Walk sandy beaches and discover the numerous blue water coves that are in this area.  Look for desert wildlife such as burros, bighorn sheep, coyotes and birds of prey.  These trips are fun for the whole family


    You drive  to us at the Techatticup Mine, just outside of the National Park Service where  we will hook up your boats to your own vehicle.  There are a lot of coves and beaches where you can swim and explore.

Bring Your Cameras

We will take you to places where pictures were taken over 100 years ago. You can stand in exactly the same place the photographer did. This experience will definitely be a unique one.


       Man per man and mile per mile Eldorado Canyon has a wider range of historical events than anywhere in the Wild West.

 -- In 1880's more men lived in Eldorado Canyon than all of the Las Vegas valley.            

 -- Steamboats ran the Colorado River for over 40 years.

-- The canyon was full of deserters during the Civil War.

-- Two of the most famous renegade Indians were raised in the canyon.
(Avote killing 5 men,  and Queho killing over 20.)                     

-- 1874 claim jumping that resulted in numerous murders & hauntings of the Techatticup Mine.

-- Camp Eldorado 1867. (A forty-nine man Military Post.)

-- John Moss and the Mojave Chief Irataba.

-- The Ives Expedition, 1858. 


    We recommend that you bring swimwear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and shoes you don't mind getting wet.  


1880's Mine Tour

        This guided above and below ground mining tour will take you into the mine and the history of the oldest and most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada.  This tour will consist of a walking tour of the old Techatticup Millsite.  This is where the ore was brought out of the mine to the stampmill, crushed to a powder and mixed in cyanide tanks where the gold & silver were separated.  We'll then proceed into the Savage Mine some 500 feet where you will view up and down stopes and actually see the veins they chased.  This mine was once owned by Senator George Hearst and was claim jumped in 1874 which resulted in numerous murders.   The air temperature in the mine is a cool comfortable 70 degrees year round.
